History of Amber
The history of amber goes back many centuries in Europe, and many violent deeds surround this precious resource. In the 13th century, Gdańsk was the centre of European amber craftsmanship. However the Teutonic monks coveted the lucrative Baltic amber trade and set out to occupy it.
On 14th November 1308, in an event known as The Gdansk Massacre, they murdered many of its inhabitants and burnt their houses.
